I don't know if you are aware that American Katie Spotz is closing in on the end of a world record solo row (in 7-10 days)as the youngest person to row across the ocean -- see www.rowforwater.com. There are people from more than 130 countries following her progress online and she is raising money and awareness for the world's drinking water plight. It is possible that the end of this amazing row could be in Guyana and there are many members of the media who will be looking for information and photos. Who can I contact, or please have them email me, so I can coordinate information with you. It will certainly put your country in the the international tourism spotlight if this happens! Thanks!

It is really good to see that Guyana is trying to builds its tourism. I was born in Guyana in 1959 and have lived in England since 1963.

I have been trying to arrange a visit back to Guyana but am finding it difficult. There are no package tours operated from England (or any country) to Guyana which means that you have to book the flight and hotel separately. A way forward for Guyana would be to approach major tour operators in England (or whatever country) with the proposal of offering package tours, possibly focusing on families and young couples. Guyana can be offered as a place to get married/go on honeymoon. Many people travel to Jamaica, Barbados, St Lucia etc to get married - I do not see why Guyana cannot offer the same.

With regards to Hotels in Guyana, the Pegasus appears to be the most recommended hotel, however I have read the reviews which in the main have been negative. Guyana needs a couple of good 5* hotels possibly offering "all inclusive" packages (eat and drink as much as to want for a fixed price).

I know Guyana has the potential, it is a beautiful country.
